Who We Are

Welcome to our stargazing haven! We’re a tight-knit group of astronomy enthusiasts, brought together by a shared passion for exploring the night sky and sharing its wonders with others.

With a diverse collection of telescopes — both large and small — we enjoy uncovering the beauty and mystery of the universe, from the craters of the Moon to distant galaxies scattered across the cosmos.

Our Mission

Our mission is simple: to ignite curiosity and foster a love of astronomy in everyone we meet.

Whether you’re a seasoned stargazer or someone looking through a telescope for the very first time, we believe the night sky should be accessible to all. Through public events, private gatherings, and educational outreach, we open our telescopes to anyone who wishes to explore the universe.

Big Glass, Dark Skies, and the Perseids

From left to right: the 22" Obsession telescope, Kyle, James, Allen, and the 25" Obsession telescope, parked in the Nevada desert for an August Eastern Sierra Observatory Star Party. While the Perseids streaked overhead, we waited under impossibly dark skies with oversized telescopes, great friends, and zero regrets—exactly the kind of night that turns “just one more look” into sunrise.

What We Do

We host public star parties, support community events, and participate in outreach programs designed to introduce people of all ages to astronomy. Our focus is hands-on, welcoming, and inclusive — no prior experience required.

We believe some of the most meaningful moments in astronomy happen when someone sees Saturn’s rings or the Moon’s surface for the first time and quietly says, “Wow.”

Our Philosophy

We are inspired by the tradition of sidewalk astronomy — the idea that astronomy is best shared, not hidden away. The true value of a telescope isn’t measured by its size or complexity, but by how many people get the chance to look through it.

We don’t charge for our events, and we’re not a nonprofit organization. Everything we do is driven by a simple desire to share the night sky and preserve its beauty for future generations.

If you’re curious about the universe, you already belong here.

Four Days in the Dust, Worth Every Minute

Taken at the California Dark Sky Festival on October 19, 2025, hosted by Eastern Sierra Observatory. A little dusty after four days in the desert, we stand in front of the famous green “Alien Mailbox,” where visitors can send letters to extraterrestrials. From left to right: Ken, Oscar, Kyle, James, and Andrew—celebrating dark skies, community, and the shared joy of exploring the universe together.
